Geological profile Miocene Reef Ta\u0161majdan is declared a protected natural asset of III category of local significance as a Miocene Reef Ta\u0161majdan natural monument on November 29, 2021 (Decision 501-918 \/ 21-s).<\/p>

Miocene reef Ta\u0161majdan natural monument is declared a protected area as a geological profile made of organogenic-reef limestones of Baden age, which was created as a reef by red colonial algae, foraminfera coral and colonial animals bryozoan and contains numerous fossil fauna.<\/p>

The rest of the quarry of the Miocene Reef Ta\u0161majdan is the only material evidence of the previous period in the urban development of this part of Belgrade and as such has cultural and historical value. The connection of the section with the “Ler’s shelter” from the Second World War and the still unexplored and unvalued underground passages gives additional importance to the protected area.<\/p>

Miocene reef Ta\u0161majdan natural monument is located in the city of Belgrade, municipality of Palilula, cadastre lot 1953\/2 KO, Ilije Gara\u0161anina 28. It is surrounded by Abardareva, Ilije Gara\u0161anina and Beogradska streets and on the the west side it leans on Ta\u0161majdan Park edged by Bulevar kralja Aleksandra.<\/p>

The total area of \u200b\u200bthe protected area is 2 ha 46 a and is in state ownership. Protection regimes of I, II and III degree are established in the protected area. The protection regime of the first degree of 12 a includes a slope, the visible part of the embankment from the open swimming pool to the water supply facility. The protection regime of the second degree of \u200b\u200b43 a includes the slope between the upper edge of the reef to the edge of Ta\u0161majdan park, parts of the rocks below the stadium stands and the underground chambers (“Ler’s shelter” (“Lerovo skloni\u0161te”)\u00a0 and unvalued medieval corridors). The protection regime of the third degree of 1.90 ha covers the remaining part of the protected natural asset that is not covered by the protection regime of the first and second degree.<\/p>

In the protection regime of the first degree, which includes the most valuable parts of the natural asset, strict protection is carried out through the maximum preservation of the existing condition, with the prohibition of any reduction of its visible or built-in area. In the protection regime of the second degree, active protection is carried out so the interventions can be performed in order to restore and improve the protected area without consequences for the primary value of habitat, population, ecosystem, landscape features and geoheritage objects, renew traditional activities and make limited use of natural resources in a sustainable and strictly controlled manner. Proactive protection is applied in the area for which the third degree regime is envisaged, which means that activities can be done for the purpose of restoration, revitalization, arrangement of cultural and historical heritage objects and overall improvement of the protected area.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
